Mr. Broome will discuss “Common Legal Issues for the Florida Agricultural Operation,” which will cover, among other things, Florida’s Greenbelt law, agricultural leases, premises liability, land use laws, and artificial entities. We are pleased to announce that Partner, and Board Certified City, County and Local Government Lawyer, Derek A. Schroth helped Marie Rich, candidate for Mount Dora City Council’s At-Large seat, defeat a challenge to Mount Dora City Council’s decision to break the tie between Ms. Rich and incumbent Nick Girone by drawing lots. The Honorable Mark A. Nacke, Circuit Judge for Florida’s Fifth Judicial Circuit, agreed with Mr. Schroth’s argument that Mount Dora’s City Charter provision dealing with runoff elections is preempted by Section 100.181, Florida Statutes, which requires tiebreakers to be decided by drawing lots.

City of Wildwood reach a tentative class action settlement. Circuit Court Judge William H. Hallman, III will conduct a hearing on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 1:30 to determine whether the tentative settlement is fair, adequate and reasonable.
